XPD is Australia’s own expedition length adventure race. 50 teams of four competitors from around the globe trek, mountain bike, and kayak for five to ten days in this world renowned expedition. These adventurers race day and night over a 700km course pushing themselves to the ultimate limits of human endurance. XPD is an expedition race in the tradition of races like the Eco-Challenge, Raid, Southern Traverse and Primal Quest. The race is held every 18 months in remote and exciting locations across Australia.
As a member of the AR World Series, XPD is a qualifying event for the Adventure Race World Championship. The AR World Series is an international circuit of premiere adventure races in 10 countries culminating every 12 months in the Adventure Racing World Championships.
Hells Bells is a non-stop 24hr adventure race involving trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and other adventure disciplines. Mixed, Male or Female teams of three must navigate their way unsupported through an arduous 100+km course that is only revealed to them hours before the race.
Fairy Bells adventure race is run at the same time as Hells Bells. It covers only half the distance but teams have the full 24hrs to complete it. The legs will be challenging, but with the additional time available to complete the half course, teams have a greater chance to reach the finish line.
Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hr is Australia's premier adventure race. It involves 48+hrs of non-stop endurance racing in the major disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking. Mixed, Male or Female teams of four must navigate their way through an arduous 200+km course that is only revealed to them the evening before the race. Usually scheduled around Aug - Sept.
The Geo-Half adventure race is run at the same time as the Mountain Designs GeoQuest. It covers only half the distance but teams have the full 48hrs to complete it. The legs will be challenging, but with the additional time available to complete the half course, teams have a greater chance to reach the finish line.
City Raid
Have you seen the amazing race on TV? Wanted to give it a go? Why not join 300+ others in a race around the Brisbane CBD on a balmy summer evening.
The annual City Raid race is scheduled in February and is based at the Roma Street Parklands. Teams of 2 are given maps and a huge list of challenges just before the race starts. They then need to get around the city by foot, train and ferry and complete as many challenges as they can. They could be anything - in the past have included riding the ferris wheel, shopping for an obscure item, launching off a 7mtr diving platform and making the perfect espresso. Teams choose which challenges to tackle and in what order, making it a fun event for all levels and abilities.
The Bribie Island Multisport is a 100 km race through Bribie Island, Pumistone Passage and the Glass House Mountains Forests. The full course is broken into 8 legs and sees relay teams and individuals complete approximately 55km of mountain biking, 22km of running, 23km of kayaking and 1 km of swimming.
The Bribie Half is a 50km race run at the same time. The half course sees relay teams and individuals complete the last 4 legs of the full course. This includes 13km of trail running, 30 km of mountain biking and 10 km of kayaking.
